This alignment ensures our solid understanding of the processes, cycles, and trends in the area. It also makes us well prepared to provide you with Associates who know Best Practices for your business and who have the “soft” skills and motivation to succeed in your company.

Why should we choose Beacon Group over a national staffing company?

Beacon Group is a privately held company. We own all our offices and can ensure the excellence and consistency of service delivery, whereas many national staffing companies are franchised, with local offices that offer varying levels of service quality.

My company currently utilizes several staffing agencies, but we’re having difficulty managing these multiple relationships. Can Beacon Group provide us with a single point of contact for satisfying all our staffing needs?

We can meet all your Staffing management requirements, including handling relationships with other staffing agencies. Through this program, we provide a dedicated representative who works on or off site, depending upon your needs and volume.

What if we have special needs?

One of the many reasons clients stay with us is the incredible flexibility we give them when it comes to their staffing needs. From customized payroll and billing to special evaluations to added on-site support, you can be assured that you will get all the services you need and more.

The personnel needs of my company are very diverse. Can Beacon Group accommodate requests to fill Direct-Hire and Temporary-to-Hire positions as well as Temporary positions?

We listen carefully to your needs so that we understand exactly what work must be done and the environment in which it will take place. We pay close attention to short-term situations and long-term forecasts so that we can identify the best and most cost-effective utilization of Temporary and Direct-Hire resources based on your current and projected workload.

When I use Beacon Group to meet my contract and permanent staffing needs, what happens next?

Our recruiting team goes to work. The process works like this:

    • We meet with you at your office to review the skill set you are looking for. We also negotiate details of our contractual relationship and sign appropriate agreements.
    • We work closely with you to develop a job description that best portrays the position and skill set you are looking for.
    • We select potential candidates for your position by searching our extensive candidate database or initiating specific searches for unique needs.
    • We forward resumes to you for review.
    • We facilitate all interviews between you, candidates, and finalists for your position.
    • We act as an intermediary during rate negotiations, and arrange for start dates.
    • We actively work to resolve any personnel or skills issues that may arise after placement.

    Can you handle large projects?

We have extensive experience handling large staffing projects. Our team is ready and able to assist businesses with high volume, short-term, or seasonal projects and fully outsource the staffing of a department or division. Beacon can provide Team Staffing to Customer Service Departments, Special Project Teams, and Document Review Teams. We can even manage all the staffing needs using our relationships with our local peers in the staffing industry. We help our clients staff their operations in order to meet fluctuating demand while controlling costs. Having Beacon as a partner allows our clients to focus on their core business.

We require an equal opportunity staffing service.

We are dedicated to providing equal opportunities to all individuals based on job-related qualifications and the ability to perform the assignment without regard to age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or veteran status. It is our policy to maintain a non-discriminatory environment, free of intimidation, harassment or bias based upon any of these grounds.

How can we be assured of the quality of the Associates you refer to us?

Beacon knows how important it is to screen for the best employees. Before we hire applicants, they must go through our Six Step Selective Screening and Interviewing Process.

Step 1 — All applicants complete our Online Application.

Step 2 — Our Consultants review the application with the applicant concentrating on gaps of employment and reasons for leaving.

Step 3 — Those that pass are given an I-9, and Beacon’s Substance Abuse Policy.

Step 4 — If they pass Step 3, they complete a W-4 form, Reference Check Release forms and skill appropriate testing. (Government Contracts may require adherence to the DD254)

Step 5 — We gather two references for every applicant meeting our hiring requirements. Applicants are provided Paycheck Information, Accident/Injury Reporting Procedures, Time Sheet Policy and checklist on our Orientation and Conditions of Employment form. Depending on the nature of the job position, applicants may be required to execute HIPAA Agreements, a Confidentiality Agreement or Intellectual Property Ownership Agreement.

Step 6 — Applicants are entered into our database which is accessible to all our Beacon Consultants. An applicant can be screened out anytime during Steps 1-5.

It has been our experience that skills alone do not guarantee on-the-job success. What steps do you take to ensure that an Associate is placed in an environment in which he or she will thrive?

At Beacon Group, we pay particular attention to other subtle, yet equally important factors that other placement agencies often overlook. For example, we recognize that variations in work style play a major role in on-the-job success. We work with you to determine the critical “fit” factors enabling us to place our Associates in the work environments where they are most likely to succeed.

What if a person does not work out?

On the rare occasion this might occur, our full day guarantee covers you. Simply call us within the first day and you will not be charged for that individual. At the same time, we’ll release the employee and replace them with a new qualified Associate.

    What if something goes wrong?

It doesn’t happen often, but if it does we’ll make it right. Our owners demand quick, decisive action. So if you have a concern, we will address it immediately.

    What is your response time?
Much depends on whether your need is an immediate need or long range need. We pride ourselves in providing a quick response to all our clients. Within hours of taking your order for a temporary employee, we will contact you to let you know the status of your request. Naturally, Direct Hire employees generally take longer due to combined client and recruiter interviewing that must occur.

Can we get permanent employees through Beacon Group?
Absolutely. Temporary work provides a bridge to permanent employment. Employers can try out a prospective employee and witness first hand that employee’s skills and abilities to determine their qualifications for a permanent position. We have qualified people in our extensive database who are interested in permanent positions. We work on a contingency fee basis. Ask us to send you a copy of our Staffing Options and Policies.

What do we do if we wish to direct-hire an Associate?

You’re the customer. If you want to hire one of our employees on a full time basis, and that is what our employee wants, we make that happen. We have buyout terms that are common in the industry. Ask us to send you a copy of our Staffing Options and Policies.

Are your project team members employees or contractors?

We meet your needs with W2 employees and 1009 subcontractors, depending on the skills needed to complete your project.

We will be announcing a major downsizing next month and would like to offer job search assistance to affected employees. What can Beacon Group do to help them in their efforts to find new opportunities?

Our Outplacement Program was designed to help with the transition process through training in effective job search techniques. It includes seminars, self-assessment tools, coaching, interviewing tips, career-development workshops, and training in computer skills.

    How am I billed?
You are billed an hourly rate that is agreed upon prior to the Associate starting the assignment. You are only billed for hours worked, which is verified by you when signing the Associate’s time card. Your billing frequency will be governed by the Terms and Conditions of the contract between Beacon Group and your company. We request that clients complete our credit application. Completion of the credit application does not create an obligation to utilize our services in the future. Rather, pre-approval allows you to rapidly engage our services so we can immediately address your staffing needs. There are no hidden costs. Government Contracts follow the payment Terms and Conditions as outlined in each BPA, RFP, Task Order or Purchase Order between Beacon Group and your agency.

    What does the bill encompass?

The bill rate includes the Associate’s salary, recruiting and screening costs, workers compensation coverage, liability coverage, and all government required taxes.

What are my responsibilities as a client after the placement is made?

We take care of all fiduciary responsibilities; we will keep in contact to receive updates on our Associate’s performance. You are required to verify and approve the Associate’s time records, keep availability updated and inform us of any job changes, assignment end dates, or interest in hiring any Associate.

In the event of a workplace accident, who is typically responsible?
Beacon Group carries the Workers’ Comp insurance on all Associates provided to a client company. Through cooperation between the client company and Beacon Group, we will seek to gather the information relative to the accident, coordinate medical care and follow up, and complete related paperwork.

    Are Associates charged a fee?
Beacon Group does NOT charge a fee to Associates for job placements.

USING A CONTINGENT WORKFORCE STRATEGY TO AVOID LAYOFFS
When economic times are volatile and businesses are facing a downturn in revenue, many CFOs turn their attention to cost-containment. A logical place to start cutting costs is labor, given that in many industries labor costs account for an average of 60% of all variable costs.
The volatility in the business climate not only dictates that labor costs be contained, but also that you become more agile in your use and deployment of labor, a characteristic not generally managed well in the traditional employer/employee relationship.
Successful organizations must develop workforce plans that allow their organizations to shift people resources rapidly from areas of low return to areas of high return, as the business environment shifts.
One approach is working with Beacon Group and implementing a contingent workforce strategy that allows your organization to rapidly cut labor costs by releasing contingent contract or temporary workers.
